Visit any generative AI site that allows image generation, and you are going to see a lot of women. If the site allows nudity, you’ll see even more naked women. But, it’s pretty rare to see men, much less naked men. Even in places1 where gender shouldn’t really matter, the go-to is a woman. So, in “Regendering,” I am going to take random GenAI images, and make it (usually) all male2

The rules of this are pretty straight-forward. I’ll take images where I know all the details of it’s creation (e.g. Base model, LoRAs, Prompt) and change it to be the opposite gender, as parsimouniously as posisble. That is, if I can get away with just changing “girl” to “boy,” that is all I am going to do. But, if necessary I will swap out character LoRAs. I will also try to find a reasonable balance between minimal changes to the prompt and a “good” result. In other words, I will change things like “high heeled shoes” so I get a more masculine 3 result.

So, onwards to the first example. I found this as I was browing the gallery for Druuna Style(Pony). I don’t remember why I was browsing there, but was surprised at the amount of female nudity. It was high, even by the standards of CivitAI. I had already been playing around with re-gendering prompts, and this page made me realize that there was potential in this project.

And, that’s enough. This was almost no effort, and I got exactly what I wanted from a regendering. I spent a while longer trying to tweak it, and honestly, I think my results got worse.
